Metropolitan Coffee was the dream of Nick Page and Gretchen Smith along with their parents Jim and Barbara Didlo. In 2002 they created an inviting atmosphere with comfortable seating and a slightly art deco feel where you could enjoy a quality espresso drink with friends.
In August of 2008, Jim and Myra Kitson purchased the shop and have continued the tradition of quality drinks and pastries in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We're passionate about continuing the tradition of quality and contributing to that are our knowledgeable baristas.
Art on the walls from local artists brings life to the shop and changes monthly. On Friday and Saturday evenings you'll often find music and the last Sunday of the month is swing dance night. Visitors to the shop can also enjoy a magazine or book from our shelves or play one of the provided games with friends.
Our Espresso Drinks
Our house espresso is specially blended for the straight shot by a wonderful micro-roastery in Laramie, Wyoming. It is rich and sweet, and so full of character and body that the thick, deep créma lingers all the way to the bottom of your cup.
Our other coffees are the wonderful blends from Crimson Cup. The house coffee is Armando's Blend, a compilation of coffees from Central America, Indonesia and Africa chosen for their individual flavor characteristics (medium roast). We also offer a variety of flavored coffees including Celtic Grogg (a sweet and creamy combination of caramel, butterscotch, and hazelnut flavors), Tirimasu, and a dark roastJungle Love Fair Trade Certified Organic Shade Blend .
Our menu features both hot and cold espresso drinks with the shop's signature cold drink - the Bean Freeze. The Bean Freeze is a combination of white chocolate and caramel blended with ice and gently cold-brewed espresso, topped with whipped cream. You can also flavor the Bean Freeze with any of our other syrups.
