Art At The Metro - The Work of Jennifer Weigel

  • Metropolitan Coffee 1329 East 17th Ave Hutchinson United States (map)

Bio
Jennifer Weigel is a multi-disciplinary mixed media conceptual artist.  Weigel utilizes a wide range of media to convey her ideas, including assemblage, drawing, fibers, installation, jewelry, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, video and writing.  Much of her work touches on themes of beauty, identity (especially gender identity), memory & forgetting, and institutional critique.  Weigel’s art has been exhibited nationally in all 50 states and has won numerous awards.  She is represented at Hutchinson Art Center and Crow & Co in Hutchinson, Carriage Factory Art Gallery in Newton, Salina Art Center, and Lincoln Art Center within the region.

”As both an artist and writer I love telling stories, and re-envisioning them to create new ones.  I especially find it fun to incorporate comic books in new forms by collaging them into new pieces.  I also enjoy working back into found thrift store art as a means of celebrating and reviving it, as seen in my Revisitations series in previous exhibits at Metropolitan Coffee and Bookends.  This show includes both working styles and is largely focused on storytelling.”
